KAPLA

KAPLA uses one beautifully simple building element: an identical wooden plank with carefully chosen proportions. With no connectors, magnets or instructions required, children build using balance, gravity and their own ideas.

The KAPLA story

Why Little Worlds loves KAPLA

We love KAPLA because it proves how much play can come from very little design intervention. The planks do not provide the answer; they provide a material. Children supply the plan, the engineering, the decoration and the story.
KAPLA’s strength comes from repetition. Every plank is the same shape, which removes the hunt for a special piece and shifts attention to structure, balance and imagination. Towers, bridges, patterns, animals, cities and abstract constructions all emerge from the same element. The system was invented by Dutch creator Tom van der Bruggen and uses French Landes pine. Because there is no fixed endpoint, a KAPLA set can support quick experiments one day and ambitious collaborative builds the next.
